East Coast Maritime Training
Training for for all Seafarers
Who are we?
Previously, the Yorkshire & Humber Fishermen’s Training Association an Industry-led Association which has been assisting individuals and companies in the catching sector of the fishing industry to access relevant, cost effective training for over 40 years, we are a registered Limited Company. In 1981 we became one of the 18 UK Sea Fish Industry Authority Group Training Associations which are now known as Seafish Approved Training Providers. Over the years we have also trained other seafarers for STCW 95 courses. As the demand to train other non-fishing seafarers has grown, particularly on the North-east coast, we have decided to expand our training facilities to suit these customers as well as maintaining our training for local fishermen and those that would like to diversify into other offshore maritime industries. We also offer free impartial help and advice on training related or vessel safety matters to individuals and companies.
We have all the necessary equipment needed to deliver the training we provide. All of our training courses are designed to be completely mobile, this enables us to deliver training anywhere in the UK and even abroad. We find that bringing training to the customer is very much welcomed as it not only saves our customers the inconvenience of travelling it also cuts down on a lot of subsistence costs for them.
Ports covered by our area of operation include Hull, Whitby, Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington, Hornsea, Withernsea, Easington and Grimsby. If requested we deliver courses in other parts of the UK. We also deliver Safety Training to crews of British Registered Fishing Vessels abroad.
We co-ordinate Skippers, Mate & Engineering MCA Certificates of Competency through college based learning.
In addition to the above we also provide Vessel Owners/Skippers/Company Managers with help in the recruitment and training of deckhands.
