Under 16.5m Skippers Ticket
The <16.5m skippers ticket will entitle the holder to skipper a UK-registered commercial fishing vessel of less than 16.5 metres. The MCA have advised that it will become a mandatory requirement for all skippers of vessels under 16.5m to hold the full qualification.
To qualify to complete the <16.5m Skippers Ticket you must already hold Basic First Aid, Basic Fire Fighting, Health & Safety for New Entrants, Safety Awareness and Risk Assessment. You must be able to confirm a minimum of XX months sea time from the date of completion of your Safety Awareness course, and for the 2/5 day Navigation and Watchkeeping you must be able to confirm xx months sea time.
There are two levels of certification:
Fishing up to 20 miles
- 1 day VHF/GMDSS Short Range Certificate
- 1 day Intermediate Stability Awareness
- 1 day Engineering Watchkeeping
- 2 day Navigation & Watchkeeping
Fishing Beyond 20 miles
- 1 day VHF/GMDSS Short Range Certificate
- 1 day Intermediate Stability Awareness
- 2 day Engineering Watchkeeping
- 5 day Navigation & Watchkeeping
